Vx570 Serial Breakout Board
Vx570 Serial Breakout Board
This is a serial breakout board for the popular VeriFone Vx570 payment terminal. Connect the breakout board to the RJ45 serial terminal jack on the back of the unit using any common RJ45 (Ethernet) cable. The breakout board performs level-conversion on the serial TxD/RxD signals to 3.3V levels for connecting directly to a microcontroller (either 3.3V or 5V system voltage).
The 9V output of the Vx570 is also passed through to the screw terminals for powering your electronics (up to 500mA is available).
This is a pretty specialized breakout board as it is only designed to work with the Vx570, but we found this very useful in one of our custom design projects and figured others might find it useful too. If you get it working with other payment terminals, let us know!
Here is the breakout board schematic. The Vx570 Serial Breakout Board was designed and assembled in the USA using lead-free components and processes.
